A rattle made of a large gourd with a netting of small shells around it.
Gabada is a social dance that can incorporate drums, bells, and rattles accompanied with traditional lyrics. Although the lyrics are filled with proverbs containing moral lessons, it is not a religious music but is rather infamous for its flirtatious nature. A woman who is said to have had Gabada put on her is one who has been seduced by members of the performing group. One person will sing a line followed immediately by a chant among the other participants. The song leader may add variations to their line, however the chant remains the same throughout.
