Adaklu Youth and Education Committee (AYEC)

 AYEC was initiated by several seamstresses and tailors in conjunction with BRIDGE. AYEC's mission is to increase access to educational and vocational opportunities for Adaklu's youth. With funding originating from BRIDGE’s board member, Fran McDonald, AYEC organized the Orphan Education Fund which sews uniforms and pays school fees for children who have lost one or both a parents. They have helped orphans remain in school since 1999, provided students with special academic talents a means of attending high school, and created vocational training for youth. Their projects include:


Local orphans who were able to attend school with the assistance of AYEC.

Future projects include:

• Building a local library and stocking it with books.
• Repairing school rooms at the secondary school.
• Creating a vocational center for skills building..
