Youth Carving Project

The Youth Carving Training Project provides youth who do not have the finiancial ability to go to high school with training in carving traditional drums. The objective is to provide youth with skills that can allow them to diversity their livelihoods. The project is likely to link up with the local eco-tourism committee to sell products to travelers who visit their mountain.

The program is administered by the Adaklu Youth and Education Committee (AYEC), which is dedicated Adaklu's youth by increasing access educational and vocational opportunities. The initial seed grant for this program provided tools for the youth, and six months of training for a local carver. Their teacher who is crippled with polio, is purchasing a wheel chair with the income from training.
